Our LEAD Rider Operations Manager and Partner Gary Laurent, has done BMX shows for nearly every manufacturer out there, including GT, Hoffman Bikes, Wilkerson Airlines, Mongoose, Vans, and S&M Bikes. In 1993 Gary added another two-wheeled act to his repertoire by learning the Extreme Motorcycle Stunt Act, The Globe of Death, in which he is a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD HOLDER. He earned an affiliation with SPECAILIZED through his show efforts that added X Games Gold Medalist and Announcer TJ Lavin to the roster, ultimately helping to get TJ his first sponsorship with that company.
Gary Laurent started racing BMX in 1978 at the young age of 11. He quickly excelled in the sport, winning the 1983 ABA Grands in Tulsa, OK, which also won him his first sponsor, Pro Craft (now Odyssey). Along the way he won several International Super Bowls and Gold Cup Championships and moved to Free Agent. In 1985 Gary gave up racing for the start of his showbiz career in Las Vegas, in the world-renowned show "Splash." This experience made him get serious about riding ramps, and in 1987 Gary started entering contests. He finished in second place on many occasions, behind the likes of Matt Hoffman, John Parker, and Dave Mira. These contests also led to more sponsorships, this time for vert, with Mongoose and again with Free Agent. Gary took his show effort further by helping to develop bicycle stunt show drug awareness programs for elementary schools, as well as continuing to perform at nearly every hotel on the Vegas strip. His BMX career has taken him all over the world, and earned him a SAG card, as a bicycle stunt man on shows such as "Pacific Blue" and several national commercials and TV programs.
